Originally from Virginia, this southern girl migrated to Philadelphia for college at the University of Pennsylvania. While enrolled, she found that Black joy and resistance permeated throughout Philly’s streets. It was in this city where she experienced theatre as activism, teaching as protest, and breathing with intention as spirituality. Through Collective Climb, she gets to be an educator, an artist, a neighbor. In her spare time, she can be found in her West Philly home debating on whether or not she should adopt a cat.

Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Kwaku (he/him/his) came to Philadelphia to study statistics at the University of Pennsylvania. After 4 years he now sees himself as a Philadelphia resident, staying for the wonderful community he found (and also the food).
Kwaku brings warmth, joy, and a light sense of humor to the the Collective Climb space. He takes on the title of team "clown" proudly. He feels that it is necessary to balance our struggles with moments of relief. As a mentor and community builder, his goal is to support and empower youth while amplifying the unique insights that they bring.
When not working, you can find Kwaku playing around with all different types of music, whether it be practicing his trumpet or arranging acapella multi-track videos. When events open up again, make sure you catch him laying vocals down at Chris' Jazz Cafe's open mic nights! Other than that, reading books, mastering recipes, playing games, and watching anime take up the rest of his time.

In what ensues, I attempt to enter into the struggle of scattering the “self” in order to erect a stage for her “self.” I am writing on interiority by engaging with exteriority; I am mapping the many pieces of myself, I found outside of myself, to locate the lyric and crucible of self-fashioning.
